Important Update

An important update for members, guests and visitors.

An update from your Club - Covid-19: Monday 18 January 2021
We are currently not permitting entry to members of guests who reside, have visited or had visitors from a current COVID-19 identified location in the last 14 days, will
not be permitted to enter the Club.

When returning from any of these areas or after visitors have left you need to isolate for 14 days before visiting the Club even if you have had a negative COVID-19 test result.

Click here to view the outlined restricted areas.

An update from your Club - Covid-19: Monday 4 January
The NSW Government has mandated new entry requirements for all hospitality venues.

From 1 January your club along with every pub and club in the state MUST USE the Service NSW QR check in to allow for Covid contact tracing.

We strongly recommend that if you have not already done so, you should download the Service NSW app. This will mean your details are saved and you will not have to manually enter them each time you want to scan in to a business. There is a link to download the app here.

If you are a member or guest you will need to do the following upon entering:

• Hold your smart phone camera up to the QR code which can be found on posters at entrance points. Simply hover the camera over the code as if you were going to take a photo of it.
• Click the link that pops up on your screen and follow the prompts until you are checked in with the Service NSW app
• Proceed to the Club entry to show your phone confirmation to the staff member. Guests will still need to sign in on entry using the Club sign in terminal
• Although it is not yet mandatory we encourage you to check-out when you leave, which you can do from within the app

If you don’t have a smartphone, don’t worry, our friendly staff will assist you to check-in.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we comply with these latest government mandated measures for all our safety.

An update from your Club - Covid-19: Friday 31 July
Our focus has always been, and continues to be, on the health and well-being of our staff, patrons and the broader community as we face the COVID-19 pandemic together.

Due to heightened warnings from NSW Health and a growing number of COVID hotspots developing across the Sydney region we have had to reconsider the conditions of entry to Laurieton United Services Club and Kew Country Club.

If you are from or have visited, in the last 14 days, Victoria, Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Port Stephens, Batemans Bay, Illawarra Shoalhaven or Albury, you will not be permitted to enter the Club. If you are unsure please check with staff.

Our intention is to reduce the risk of transmission within our venue and the broader community. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and trust that you can understand our stance in these challenging times.

When visiting the club we request that you follow our signage, remain seated and respect the directions of our COVID Safe Marshals who are here to help you keep safe and healthy.

It is important that we all contribute to keeping everybody safe and healthy during the pandemic. While we remain committed to our COVID Safe practices such as enhanced hygiene and cleaning regimes, promoting social distancing and providing clear thoroughfares to avoid co-mingling, you can also play your part by maintaining your distance from others, by using the hand sanitizers that we have provided and most importantly staying at home if you are feeling unwell.

Since the commencement of the pandemic we have all been forced to modify the way we go about our everyday lives, which creates uncertainty in us all. As we have found during the pandemic, the guidelines can change quickly and we need to be agile. On this basis we will continue to regularly monitor developments and adapt as required to keep us all safe.

On behalf of all of the team we thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you again soon in your COVID-Safe Club.

Club Update - Covid-19 Restrictions: Friday 24 July
Due to the recent COVID-19 community transmissions in Sydney, the NSW Government has determined that the restrictions relating to the hospitality industry have been further tightened from this week.

You will be pleased to know that Laurieton United Services Club and Kew Country Club are already complying with most of the enhanced restrictions, including the preparation and registration of a COVID-Safety Plan with NSW Health, utilising COVID Marshals to provide guidance and direction to our customers relating to our COVID-19 Safety Plan as well as the ability to provide a comprehensive digital record of people who were in the Club for potential contact tracing which is reliant on our members and guests signing in and out of the Club.

The Premier has recently indicated that venues are required to implement measures that prevent patrons from intermingling and accordingly, bookings and group sizes are now limited to a maximum of ten people this includes our sub club activities. We also ask that you remain seated and stay with your group rather than conversing or socialising with members of other groups. We thank you in advance for making your contribution by not gathering in groups of ten or more and staying with your group when you next visit the Club.

Our overall capacity has been marginally reduced however our overall floor space and the low patron density levels have allowed us to maintain the majority of our existing furniture layout and we continue to operate our current dining outlets. Whilst we have chosen to continue with our current activities such as raffles and bingo, there will not be any additions to our activities at this time. Our courtesy bus will also remain running and available 7 days from 4.00 pm, but please be patient as limits per trip do apply due to social distancing.

As we have all seen by recent events, COVID-19 is a formidable adversary and we all need to make our contribution to keep it at bay. While we remain committed to our COVID Safe practices such as enhanced hygiene and cleaning regimes, promoting social distancing and providing clear thoroughfares to avoid co-mingling, you can also play your part by maintaining your distance from others, by using the hand sanitisers that we have provided and most importantly staying at home if you are feeling unwell.

Our focus has always been, and continues to be, on the health and well-being of our staff, patrons and the broader community. We will continue to monitor developments and modify our operations as required to keep us all safe.

On behalf of all of the team we thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you again soon in your COVID-Safe Club.

What's happening in July! Update 11: Thursday 25 June
As restrictions finally begin to ease it has been great to see so many familiar faces at Lauireton United Services Club and Kew Country Club.

We have received further direction from the State Government and Clubs NSW regarding room limits and gatherings and I am happy to advise that as of 1 July we there will be some further changes at both your Clubs. We will continue to have Covid-19 safety protocols in place and ask that you bear with us, as we need to ensure we are implementing these changes in a way that continues to ensure the safety of our members, guests and staff

Although we will be relaxing our 50 person per area or zone policy within the Club, the strict social distancing regulations of 1.5m will continue to be in place to ensure the comfort and safety of our members and guests.

We also ask that all members and guests continue to sign in and out of the Club to assist us in monitoring the number of patrons on premise and ensure we are complying with Covid-19 protocols.

I'd like to thank everyone who supported our virtual raffles which we introduced to provide entertainment to the community while we were in lock down as well as during the strict capacity limits for the Club to ensure everyone could participate present or not.

We will be making changes to these raffles beginning in July. We have received great feedback regarding our Monster Market raffle, and to continue the support of our local businesses we will be moving this raffle to Thursday and maintaining online plus in Club ticket purchases.

Our traditional format Friday and Sunday raffles are back by popular demand and you will find more information on these in this newsletter.

Unfortunately our entertainment is still on hold and we ask anyone holding tickets for cancelled shows return their tickets to the Club for a full refund. We appreciate that we all enjoy our live shows and we are keen to get these going again as soon as we can safely do so.

We sincerely appreciate all your patience and support during these ever changing Covid-19 conditions and if you have any questions or concerns please contact Club reception on 6559 9110.

You can also stay up to date with all our initiatives on our website and Facebook pages.

Welcome back. We've missed you! Update 10: Friday 29 May.
As per our recent communication we will be opening our doors as of Monday 1 June. While this is exciting news and we are looking forward to welcoming you back to your Club; we ask that you bear with us while we implement Covid-19 safety protocols to ensure the safety of you, our members, guests and staff.

Although we are opening our doors we will be implementing a 50 person per area or zone policy within the Club, with strict social distancing regulations in place as advised by the Australian Government and Clubs NSW.

In order to comply with this advice we will be implementing the following measures around both our clubs:
  • All members and guests will need to sign in and out of the Club and their details recorded to assist us in monitoring the number of patrons on premise and ensure we are complying with Covid-19 protocols.
  • Covid-19 Marshalls will be monitoring all areas of the clubs to ensure Covid-19 protocols are being adhered to and assist our members and guests to ensure we maintain a safe environment for all
  • We have implemented a vigorous hygiene regime disinfecting gaming machines, kiosks, ATMs, bathrooms and other surfaces on a regular basis.
  • In support of the recommended social distancing of 1.5m; we have also moved tables to meet this requirement to improve the comfort and safety of our members and guests.
  • Bar, gaming, Keno and TAB facilities will all be operational with social distancing rules applied.
  • Additional Covid-19 signage has been placed around the Club to provide guidance on social distancing protocols.
  • The Boardwalk Bistro and Deck Coffee Lounge will reopen with normal trading hours however we will continue to offer takeaway and home delivery options as well.
  • Our Courtesy Bus will NOT be operational at this time but we are working towards reintroducing this as soon as safely possible.
  • At this stage all live entertainment, members draw, in-house raffles, bingo and functions will remain suspended until social distancing restrictions allow these to recommence.

We recently launched a virtual raffle on Thursdays; our Mega Meat and Seafood Raffle; and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported this initiative; we hope it has provided some much needed entertainment while your Club has been in lock down. We are in the process of launching two new virtual raffles on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons in lieu of in house raffles to keep the entertainment coming.

Our Friday Monster Market Raffle with over $2,000 in local business vouchers will not only provide our members and guests some additional entertainment but also show our local businesses some much needed support during this challenging time. It is also for this reason we have also decided to launch a Super Sunday Meat Raffle PLUS who doesn't love a meat raffle! You will be receiving further information on this shortly.

We sincerely appreciate all your patience and support during this difficult time and ask that you continue to bear with us while we work through these ever changing Covid-19 conditions.  If you have any questions please contact Club reception on 6559 9110.

We will continue to monitor the advice of the Australian Government and Clubs NSW and implement advice accordingly and provide further updates as they become available.

We have more exciting news on what's happening at Your Club! - Update 8: Monday 11 May.
It has certainly been a world-wind few weeks here at Lauireton United Services Club and Kew Country Club.

Our Deck Pop-up Coffee Shop is now open at the back of the Sports Bar and due to the overwhelming response we have extended our hours from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm. A big thank you to everyone for all your support; it is greatly appreciated.

Our Boardwalk Bistro takeaway also launched for dinner last Thursday and will continue to be available from Thursday's through to Monday's. We have received a great response, and are therefore launching a home delivery service in conjunction with 13Cabs; the option of delivery will assist in making our affordable and convenient meals even more accessible to our less mobile members.

Another big thank you to all of you who participated in our Mother's Day Virtual Raffle on Thursday. We were overwhelmed with the response and increased the prize pool to $3,000 to say thank you. We have received great feedback from our virtual raffle as well as much encouragement to launch a weekly raffle which I am happy to say is now underway and will be launching this Thursday 14 May with over $2,000 in Meat and Seafood prizes up for grabs. Again, we hope that our weekly raffle will deliver some much needed entertainment and will be a whole lot of fun; as well as providing the opportunity to win some really great prizes.

We trust you are safe and well during these uncertain times.

It has been a busy few weeks behind the scenes at Lauireton United Services Club and Kew Country Club with many projects coming to fruition.

Our staff have returned to work and have been kept busy facilitating some important projects including maintaining the golf and bowling greens, marshaling the golf course to ensure social distancing protocols are being adhered to; as well as assisting with some much needed tidying and maintenance; but most importantly touching base with our most vulnerable members to make sure they are well and taken care of.

Last Thursday our Deck Pop-up Coffee Shop opened at the back of the Sports Bar and our Cellar Bottle Shop is also now open. A big thank you to everyone who has come along for a coffee, gelato or takeaway beverage; your support is much appreciated and our staff have been thrilled to see such friendly familiar faces.

We have some exciting news! - Update 6: Tuesday 21 April
We trust you are safe and well during these uncertain times.

You should have received a communication from us a few days ago updating our members on the Club and what has been happening in the background since our doors closed a few weeks ago.

As you know it has been unprecedented times and we are certainly in uncharted waters; but now our staff have returned for a few shifts a week, we are ready to put into action some fun and exciting new initiatives we have been working on.

Firstly, we are excited to announce that as of this Thursday we have a pop-up cafe and bottle shop opening at the back of the sports bar for takeaways. We have also been busy resealing the floor in the bistro kitchen as well as completing a few other maintenance tasks and once these are complete we will be launching our takeaway and home delivery menu.

As you know this Saturday is Anzac Day; which is traditionally a very special day for all of us. Unfortunately we are unable to commemorate our national day of remembrance in our usual manner but I am sure we will all be paying tribute to our fallen comrades from the comfort of our homes.

Lastly we have our Mother's Day Virtual Raffle coming up on Thursday 7 May; which will be a lot of fun and we hope you all enjoy it and win some great prizes.

Hello from Your Club - We are thinking of you! - Update 5: Thursday 16 April
Firstly, I would like to thank you, our members and our local community for the support we have received since the Government announced that we were required to close our doors on Monday 23 March in an effort to combat the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

It has certainly not been smooth sailing; however the Board and Management team have been kept busy meeting regularly since we closed our doors. Our main focus has been on our staff, our members and managing our financial position during this time.

As mentioned, our primary attention has been to ensure the welfare of our staff with the implementation of Government initiatives in collaboration with Clubs NSW. I am pleased to inform you that your Club has commenced the Job Keeper program to assist our staff in reducing any financial stress.

The Job Keeper Program is designed to ensure employees remain attached to the business and has provided us the opportunity to identify areas of suitable work that can be carried out during this time.

As such I am pleased to advise that our staff have now returned to work for a few shifts a week to undertake a range of duties at Laurieton United Services Club and Kew Country Club to keep them engaged with fellow team members during this difficult time and to help ward off that dreaded cabin fever. Social distancing measures will remain in place to protect everyone's health and well-being.

Some of these tasks include maintaining the bowling greens and the golf course at Kew Country Club and marshalling the golf course to ensure members are adhering to our strict social distancing regulations click here to view the recent communication sent to our golf and bowls members.

Staff are also assisting with some much needed organising, tidying and maintenance, processing show ticket refunds and most importantly touching base with our most vulnerable members to check in and make sure they are well and taken care of. You can also stay up to date with all initiatives on our Facebook pages.

While we are working on a plan to reduce any financial impact on the Club to ensure we are in the best possible financial position throughout these difficult times; we are also working on some fun and exciting initiatives and look forward to sharing these with you very shortly.

We have received some queries regarding membership; and I would like to reassure you that your points, any vouchers you have on your card and your reward level is safe and we will not be adjusting membership levels or clearing rewards points during the shut down. As you would know renewal time is fast approaching and we will be advising you on these details in the very near future.

Thank you again to everyone for your support and understanding during this very tough time; and we will endeavour to keep you informed as things progress. We will get through this, and when the time is right we look forward to welcoming you back into your Club house when it is safe to do so.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) - Update 4: Monday 23 March
As you are aware last night (Sunday 22 March) the Prime Minister delivered a devastating blow enacting stage one restrictions in their efforts to combat the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

In line with this announcement, Laurieton United Services Club and Kew Country Club will be closing our doors at 12.00pm today.

It is unprecedented times and while these measures seem drastic the safety and well-being of our staff, members, guests and visitors are our first priority.
For those of you holding tickets to upcoming entertainment at our Club, rest assured that while we are temporarily closing our doors, that all tickets and refunds will be honoured upon our reopening. We are planning to reschedule our April and May shows for later in the year and ticket holders will have the option to maintain their ticket for the new date or to request a refund.

As a community based club our primary focus is to provide a hub for our community to come together in a safe and secure environment to engage in social activities and while it saddens us that we won’t be able to maintain this important role in our community; we are looking forward to reopening and welcoming you all back when it is safe to do so.

Although it is at this time unclear how long this restriction will be in place, rest assured that we will provide updates as soon as this is possible.

Please take care of yourselves and each other.

  • We have reduced seating in our main bar area, café, auditorium, gaming room and bistro to 100 per zone
  • Staff are carefully monitoring this and taking necessary steps to ensure this limit is not breached

Members, guests and visitors should be confident we are vigorously adhering to instructions passed down by the NSW Health Department and have implemented the following measures:
  • Increased sanitisation measures including disinfecting railings, benches, tables, arms of chairs, ATM’s, bar tops, bathroom doors, CRT machines gaming machines, bingo equipment, till buttons and coffee machines

Our Boardwalk Bistro is also offering takeaway as an option which can be ordered over the telephone and picked up directly.

Laurieton United Services Club will continue to monitor the advice of the Australian Government and Clubs NSW and implement advice accordingly.

We encourage all members, guests and visitors to stay up to date via our Facebook page www.facebook.com/LaurietonUnitedServicesClub

Coronavirus (Covid-19) - Update 2: Wednesday 18 March
We recently sent out a communication regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) and steps we were implementing to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff, members, guests and visitors.

As of this morning there have been further developments regarding the advice from the Australian Government, Clubs NSW and Bowls NSW and we are therefore implementing the following measures to further protect persons on, or seeking to visit our premises.

As of today we are implementing a 100 person per area or zone policy with the Club, all our facilities and weekly activities continuing to operate as normal including bingo, and the Friday and Sunday raffles. Unfortunately this will mean the cancellation of all major shows and events such as Jon Stevens and 19-Twenty until further notice.

In addition we have implemented a vigorous hygiene regime disinfecting gaming machines, kiosks, ATMs and other surfaces as much as possible. In support of the recommended social distancing of 1.5m; we have also moved tables to meet this requirement to improve the comfort and safety of our members and guests.

Laurieton United Services Club will continue to monitor the advice of the Australian Government and Clubs NSW and implement advice accordingly.

While onsite all staff, members, guests and visitors are encouraged to practice good personal hygiene including,
  • cleaning your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or use an alcohol based hand rub.
  • cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with a tissue or flexed elbow.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this difficult time. If you have any questions please contact Club reception on 6559 9110.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) - Update Monday 16 March
As a Community based organisation with close to 8,500 members we are taking advice on COVID–19 coronavirus seriously, and as a result have implemented the following measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff, members, guests and visitors. Our primary concern is to protect people, ensure our obligations under the WHS Act and maintain our duty of care to our staff, and to persons on, or seeking to visit our premises.

Returning from overseas.
All persons who have returned from overseas travel from midnight Monday 16 March 2020, or been in contact with people who have returned from overseas travel are required by the government to self-isolate for a period of 14 days and as a result will not be permitted to enter Laurieton United Services Club or Kew Country Club premises.

If exposed to Covid-19.
All persons whose place of employment, education or socialisation that has been closed due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 are not to enter either of our premises.

All persons who experience or show signs of flu like symptoms which may include fever, cough, sore throat, tiredness and shortness of breath are not to enter either of our premises.

Persons who are onsite and showing flu like symptoms will be asked to leave the premises.

We encourage all persons who are experiencing flu like symptoms to follow the advice of NSW Health. For more information on COVID-19 visit www.health.nsw.gov.au/coronavirus

We encourage all staff, members, guests and visitors to practice good hygiene at all times and have increased signage within the venue to inform of these good hygiene practices.

Staff will be discouraged from engaging in personal contact, such as the shaking of hands with fellow staff, members, guests and visitors. Please do not take this in any other way than as a preventative and control measure to help prevent the spread of viruses.

Monitoring updates
Laurieton United Services Club will continue to monitor the advice of ClubsNSW and implement advice accordingly.

We will also continue to monitor the advice of the Returned and Services League of Australia in liaison with the Laurieton RSL Sub Branch and support the advice accordingly.

Kew Country Club will continue to monitor the advice of Golf NSW in Liaison with Club Management and support the advice accordingly.

Events, Entertainment and Functions
The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve rapidly. Following advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) on 13 March 2020 it is recommended that non-essential, organised gatherings be limited to fewer than 500 people.

This includes events such as concerts, sporting fixtures with large crowds, exhibitions and religious celebrations.

While all Australians are encouraged to exercise personal responsibility for social distancing, there are no current restrictions recommended on attending other settings, such as shopping centres, or using public transport.

For non-essential organised gatherings with fewer than 500 attendees, NSW Health recommends that organisers:
  • remind attendees and staff not to attend if they are feeling unwell
  • remind attendees and staff that they must not attend if they have travelled overseas in the past 14 days
  • ensure emergency management practices are up to date
  • brief staff on how to practice good hygiene and making it easy for staff and attendees to practice good hygiene
  • have adequate hand washing facilities available

NSW Health also offer this advice for attendees:
  • stay home and not attend if you are feeling unwell
  • stay home and not attend if you have travelled overseas in the past 14 days

Should the advice from AHPPC change, Laurieton United Services Club and Kew Country Club will update its policy accordingly.

We encourage all members, guests and visitors to stay up to date via our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LaurietonUnitedServicesClub

We encourage attendees of organised functions and events at Laurieton United Services Club or Kew Country Club to liaise directly with those organisers, rather than the Clubs.

Boardwalk Bistro
We are taking our responsibility seriously and have implemented a number of temporary measures while dining in our venue which include;
  • Removal of cutlery from all tables. Cutlery will be delivered with your meals.
  • Introduction of single use menus.
  • Increased sanitation of all work and public spaces.
  • Additional staff training.
  • Increased use of gloves, including in the acceptance of deliveries.
  • Removal of ‘help yourself’ sauce and cutlery stations.

Deck Coffee Lounge
Our Café for the interim will be unable to use personal ‘keep’ style cups for any person until further notice.

Gaming Floor
Staff are conducting increased sanitation of gaming machines. Staff, members, visitors and guests are expected to follow basic good hygiene practices.

Golf Course and Pro Shop
All relevant practices also apply to these outlets.
Persons who do not cooperate with our advice in relation to COVID-19 will be asked to leave our premises.

We ask for your complete cooperation and understanding as we continue our commitment to offering a quality based community hub for all people of our community to enjoy.

If you have any questions please contact Club reception on 6559 9110.

We will provide updates as they become available.
